🚨 A customer brought me a broken laptop yesterday…
Today, he came back with the police. 😂👮♂️💻
Thankfully, this story had a happy ending.
What started as a simple free diagnosis turned into one of the most unexpected misunderstandings I've experienced at my computer shop. A tester RAM stick was mistaken for the customer's SSD, and with no easy way to contact me, the customer decided to bring the police along to help figure things out.
Once I opened the laptop in front of everyone, the SSD and RAM were exactly where they were supposed to be. 😅
The customer apologized, the misunderstanding was cleared up, and thankfully everyone left on good terms, even the police were kind enough to be in the video. 📸😂
Honestly, I completely understand why someone might feel nervous when dealing with a computer problem in a foreign country. Your laptop can contain your work, photos, personal information, and your entire digital life. Trust matters.
That's why I always try to be transparent with every customer and explain what I'm doing during the repair process.
So apparently, I can now add “Police-Verified Computer Guy” to my résumé.

This customer found me through my new Naver Maps listing after having a frustrating experience calling other repair shops.
At Phil's Computer Repository, I believe transparency matters. You should always know exactly what parts are going into your computer and why they're being used.

I was sad to hear that @linustech was in my building and I had no idea. It would have been amazing to have been able to meet him in person.
I love supporting Tech youtubers who helped me with my own business and I have purchased some merch from their online store over the years.
Maybe next time~

Every now and then, I get asked why my prices are higher than prebuilt computers on Korean ecommerce websites.
When it comes to custom desktops, true value comes from expert component selection that creates a well-balanced system, not from cutting corners with the cheapest brands to secure a quick sale.
